Bertha Blanche (Boyd) McGaw

Bertha Blanche (Boyd) McGaw, formerly of Tower Hill, age 94 passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015. She was born on Easter Sunday, March 27, 1921 in Rubles Mill a daughter of Terah S. and Ethel M. (Reese) Boyd.

Bertha was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Uniontown. She became the church pianist at the age of 11.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John Morgan McGaw who passed away in 2007; daughter in law: Gloria Jean McGaw; siblings: Thelma Murphy, Mary Ann Satanek, Ethel Mae Pratt, Catherine Riggar and James Boyd.

Bertha is survived by: two children, Marilyn Kay Olesko and her husband William of Tower Hill, and John Morgan McGaw, III of Pittsburgh; grandchildren: William, II, Jennifer, Tricia, Melissa, Carla, John M. IV and 11 great grandchildren; two brothers: Terry Boyd and Mark Boyd; many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you those who cared for Bertha over the years.

Bertha’s family will receive friends on Monday, September 7, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Goldsboro-Fabry Funeral Home, Inc., 21 E. Church Street, Fairchance, PA 15436. Additional visitation will take place on Tuesday in the Church of God Of Prophecy, 48 Lower Oliver Road, Uniontown, PA 15401 from 10 -11 am, the hour of her funeral service with Pastor Donna Stenger and Arlyn Satanek, officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery, Smithfield, PA.
