Vernon Joseph Seibert

Seibert, Vernon Joseph, age 95 of Collier, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016 in Horizon Personal Care Home. He was born in Accident MD on June 13, 1921, son of Joseph and Laura (Hanft) Seibert.

Vernon graduated from Western Maryland College with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. He was then drafted into the U.S. Navy, and served his country in World War II in Guam. Upon discharge, he left for Saudi Arabia to work for Standard Oil. Upon returning home, he went to work for Westinghouse at the Bettis Power Plant in West Mifflin for thirty two years. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Uniontown.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six siblings: Lois Cann, Robert Seibert, Elda Jean Seibert, Richard Seibert, Carole Tesoro, and James Seibert.

Vernon is survived by four siblings: Clara Campbell of Uniontown, Fred Seibert and his wife Janet of Jamestown, PA, Phyllis Washock of Mentor, OH, and Max Seibert of Collier. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Vernon’s family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday, June 17, 2016 in the Goldsboro-Fabry Funeral Home, Inc. at 21 E. Church Street, Fairchance, PA where his funeral service will take place at 11 am  on Saturday, June 18, 2016 with Rev. Kevin Anderson, officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Park, Brownfield, PA. with Military Rites and Honors accorded by the General George C. Marshall Amvets Post 103 of Hopwood, PA.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Michelle Grimm and her staff at Horizon Personal Care Home and the Amedysis Hospice Team for the amazing care and support lent every day during his stay.
