James W. Goldsboro, of Fairchance, passed away May 1, 2019, at the age of 98. J.W. was married to Wanda A. Arison Goldsboro for 72 years until her passing. He served in the United States Army for four years as a technical sergeant. He then successfully built and operated The Goldsboro Funeral Home for over 40 years until retiring to Florida to be near family. He loved joking and telling stories. People were his passion and he would befriend anyone willing to talk. He was a member of Fayette Lodge 228, Uniontown, PA, American Legion, Amvets, Syria Shrine, and the Gourgas Lodge of Perfection. J. W. was the last surviving founder of the Fairchance Exchange Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda A. Goldsboro; his parents, Frances and Mary Goldsboro; his sisters, Loretta and Lois Jane; and his great grandson, Aaron.
He is survived by his daughter, Lana Jo Goldsboro of Florida; his granddaughters: Heather Lawrence and husband Jon and their three children, Karlie, Kendall, and Wesley, Hillary Glaser and husband Craig and their two children, Sydney and Joseph; many nieces and nephews.
J. W.’s family will receive friends from noon to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, May 5, in GOLDSBORO-FABRY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 21 East Church Street, Fairchance, PA 15436, where his funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, with Pastor Chuck McLaughlin, officiating. A graveside service will follow at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery, Smithfield, PA with full Military Rights and Honors being accorded by the George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood.
A Masonic Funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
