Roger Lee Knight, age 68, of New Cumberland, PA passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital, Mechanicsburg, PA. Son of the late Harmon and Virginia (Donivan) Knight, he was born on March 5, 1951 in York Run, PA.
Roger was a man who didn’t complain about hard work. After high school, he served our country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a trucker by profession, retiring from UPS Freight, Mechanicsburg. His free time was spent at the New Cumberland Fire Department, where he volunteered for 31 years. He and his wife, Ruth, enjoyed traveling together and going out to dinner with friends. Roger got a good look at the United States thanks to his work; he traveled cross-country often, but his most recent routes took him to New England and parts of Canada.
Roger is survived by his children, Heather R. Knight of New Cumberland, and Jason A. Knight (Christina Sgrignoli) of Camp Hill; grandchildren, Destinee Grassi, Preston Koller, Ayden Knight, Andrew Knight, and Alexander Lee (who’s still on the way); and his sister, Ina Mae Binkie of Etters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife (in 2005), Ruth Ann (Vance) Knight; and his brother, Leonard Harman Knight.
