Donald Hockenberry Obituary

Donald W. Hockenberry, age 94 of Fairchance passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 in the Uniontown Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Uniontown, PA.  He was born on February 28, 1924 in Graceton, PA a son of George Wilbur and Georgianna Ethel Hockenberry.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Joan Hockenberry; brothers: Curtis “Ted” Hockenberry and Charles Hockenberry.

He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II and in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon and also the custodian for over the last thirty years. He enjoyed participating in and watching all sports especially baseball, bowling and golfing. He also enjoyed reading and loved history. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Kathleen Joan Coleman Hockenberry; children: Janet Marva and her husband Philip Sr. of Smithfield, Daniel Hockenberry and his wife Lora of Clarksville, Barbara Reiprich of Morgantown, Patricia Sahady and her husband Douglas of Clarksville; grandchildren: Philip Marva Jr. and his wife Meg of Smithfield, Sharon Tolbert and her husband David of Uniontown, Tara Reiprich and her fiancée Larry Churby of Smithfield, PFC Jacob Sahady of Clarksville, Katelynn Sahady of Clarksville; great grandchildren: MME3 Damon Tolbert of Uniontown, Jared Tolbert of Uniontown, Ashley Marva, Gavin Reiprich and Landon Churby all of Smithfield.

Don’s family will receive friends from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2019 in the Goldsboro-Fabry Funeral Home, Inc., 21 E. Church Street, Fairchance, PA. His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday in the Fairchance First Presbyterian Church, 114 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa with the Rev. Robert Robinson, officiating. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CURCH) Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Brownfield, Pa with full military honors being accorded by the George C. Marshall Post 103 AMVETS of Hopwood.
