Frank N. Black

Frank Nicholson Black, Age 90 of Old Frame, died on February 1, 2015 in the Monongalia General Hospital. Frank was born on December 15, 1924 in Old Frame, a son of Albert C. and Ada H. Humphrey Black.

In addition to his parents Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Vernie "Ruth" (Clark) Black and sister, Anna Myrtle Black.

Frank is survived by four children: John E. Black Sr. and his wife Diana of Smithfield, Eunice Black of Smithfield, James N. Black of Masontown and Earl E. Black and his wife Grace of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren: Michael McClead Jr. and his wife Darla of Masontown, John E. Black Jr. and his wife Nicole of Masontown, April Black of Smithfield, Step grandson Robert, and Eunice Black of Phoenix, AZ; great grandchildren: Michael, Zachary and Olivia.

Frank sailed the seas for over fifty years, in the Navy and then in the Merchant Marines. He was a member of the General George C. Marshall Amvets Post 103, Hopwood, PA, Faith-Gray-McArdle V.F.W. Post 4584, Masontown, PA, and the American Legion Post 423, Masontown, PA.

Frank's family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 11, 2015
from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Goldsboro-Fabry Funeral Home, Inc., 21 E. Church Street, Fairchance, PA, John M. Fabry, Supervisor. Additional visitation will take place on Thursday from 10 until 11 am, the hour of his funeral service at the Oak Hill Baptist Church (EVERYONE MEET AT THE CHURCH). Rev. Alvie Edwards, officiating. Interment to follow in the Old Frame Cemetery, Masontown, PA. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the General George C. Marshall Amvets Post 103, Hopwood, PA. Memorial contributions may be made in Frank's name to the Wounded Warriors Fund or a veterans organization of one's choice.
