Mabel E. Bowers

Bowers, Mabel E. (Cunningham), age 97 of Fairchance, PA passed away on Monday, April 09, 2012 at home with her family by her side . She was born October 21, 1914 in Fairchance, PA, a daughter of the late Ross and Sarah Kissinger Cunningham. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Milton H. Bowers, and the following brothers and sisters; Ross, Jr., Melbourne, Harry, William, James, Charles, Ralph, Edward, Lilly Smiley and Grace Smiley.

Mabel was a member of the Fairchance Church of the Brethren, having served for years as Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Dean and Teacher, Board Member and Choir Member. Her entire life was dedicated to her Church and serving the Lord. She was given an Award in October, 2011 by the State Sunday School Association in recognition of 64 years of Sunday School Service.

Mabel is survived by her daughter, Irela Smith and her husband Ron of Farmington, her grandchildren, Kris Rugg and her husband Vince of Markleysburg, Jonathan Smith and his wife Karen of Cranberry great grandchildren, Megan Jenkins, Dalton and Makenzie Rugg, Gaige & Ryleigh Smith, step great grandchildren, Damon Rugg & Corban Kovach, , her brother, Milton Cunningham and his wife Norma of Fairchance, sisters in law, Ellen and Helen Cunningham of Fairchance, and Iona Liles of Palm Desert, CA, also several nieces and nephews.

Mabel's family will receive friends in the Goldsboro-Tomi Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 21 E. Church St., Fairchance, PA, John M. Fabry, Supervisor on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, April 12 from 10 until 11 a.m., the time of the Funeral Service with Rev. A. Harrison Smith officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
