Irene A. (Pawlak) Smith

Irene A. (Pawlak) Smith, age 87, of Smithfield, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Lemont Furnace on September 23, 1927 a daughter of Lawrence Pawlak and Mary (Kieta) Pawlak.

Irene enjoyed gardening, her flowers, her chihuahuas and taking care of the animals on her farm. Her children were her life.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Charles Smith; grandson: Seth Keifer; seven siblings.

Irene is survived by her children: Bernadette Jubin of New Salem, Mary Saluga of Cardale, Patricia Keifer and her husband Orion of Front Royal, VA, Irene Nicola and her husband James of Hopwood, Diane Patterson of Smithfield, Alfred Clark Smith, Jr. of Smithfield, Becky Embacher and her husband Joe of York Run and David Smith of Morgantown, WV;  sisters: Helen Smolen of OH and Elizabeth Chunkala of Monesson; 25 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews.

Irene’s family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Sunday, September 13, 2015 in the Goldsboro-Fabry Funeral Home, Inc., 21 E. Church Street, Fairchance, PA 15436 and Monday morning until 11 am, the time of her funeral service with Amedisys Chaplain Rev. David Hixson, officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Memorial contributions are welcome in Irene’s name to Fayette Friends of Animals 223 Searights Herbert Road, P.O.
