William Whiltshire Chappell, Jr.

Rev. William W. Chappell, age 87, of Fairchance passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. He was born on September 25, 1929, a son of William W. Chappell, Sr. and Florence Gertrude Whitmer Chappell.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter in law, Anna Hickle.

Bill proudly served his country in the Army in Germany from 1948 until 1950 and during the Korean Conflict being discharged in 1955.  He entered the ministry in 1974, opened a church as pastor in 1990 and retired in 2005. He also drove tractor trailer in the Uniontown area from 1984 until 1990.

He is survived by his wife of thirty two years, Betty June Walls Hickle Chappell; four sons: Herman J. Hickle and his wife Judy of Berlin, PA, Edward T. Hickle and his wife Mary of Luxor, PA, Joseph H. Hickle and his wife Joyce of Fairchance, Richard J. Hickle of Masontown, PA; one daughter, April L. Zaletel of Crafton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; two brothers: Al Chappell and his wife Dee of Shalersville, Oh, Sonny Chappell and his wife Carol of Ohio; one sister, Phyliss Kazmerski of Cleveland, OH; numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. of Saturday, October 1, 2016 and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2016 in the Goldsboro-Fabry Funeral Home, Inc., 21 E. Church Street, Fairchance, PA where his funeral service will take place at 11a.m. on Monday, October 3, 2016 with Pastor Thomas Brown, officiating. Entombment to follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
